Chianti Classico Riserva

キャンティ・クラシコ・リゼルヴァ

Bibbiano

Sangiovese

About this wine

Bibbiano's Riserva is made exclusively from the 'Sangiovese da Chianti' clone grown on the Montornello side of the estate — the best bunches selected ahead of the single-vineyard Montornello bottling. Fermentation runs about 23 days in stainless steel and cement, followed by roughly 18 months of aging split between cement tanks and French oak tonneaux. It shows calcareous-clay-driven acidity and red-fruited character, with aromas of cherry, orange peel, black tea and pepper, and a dry, harmonious palate with soft, integrated tannins.

Beginner's Note

A step up in structure from the Annata, but still approachable — a good bridge toward the Gran Selezione wines.

Sommelier's Note

"Bibbiano's Riserva captures the Montornello vineyard's calcareous backbone before the fruit gets concentrated further into the Gran Selezione — arguably the best value in the range."

Food Pairings

Suited to richer fare than the base Chianti Classico: braised beef, roast lamb, mushroom risotto, and hard aged cheeses.

When to drink it

Sunday roasts, special family dinners, cheese course

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Bibbiano's Riserva different from the basic Chianti Classico?
It uses only the Sangiovese da Chianti clone from the Montornello vineyard, ferments longer, and ages about 18 months split between cement and French oak tonneaux, giving it more structure.
Is the Riserva related to the Montornello Gran Selezione?
Yes — the Riserva is selected from the same Montornello vineyard, using the best bunches not reserved for the single-vineyard Gran Selezione bottling.
What does Bibbiano's Riserva taste like?
Aromas of cherry, orange peel, black tea and pepper lead into a dry, harmonious palate with soft, well-integrated tannins.
