Ryomu Red is a story-driven Muscat Bailey A red from Asuka Wine (Habikino, Osaka), part of the 2024-vintage 'Ryomu' line. Its defining feature is a yeast strain isolated and cultivated from the moat water of Hakayama Kofun, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group, giving the wine a romantic link to the ancient burial mounds of Habikino. Light-bodied and on the sweeter side, it shows charming aromas of strawberry, cherry, candy, and cotton candy. Sold only in a 750ml bottle at 2,500 yen (tax included).

Sommelier's Note

A rare cuvée where the yeast itself carries the terroir's history — fermented with a strain cultured from an ancient Kofun moat, it is a genuinely one-of-a-kind expression of Habikino.

Food Pairings

Its soft tannins and gentle sweetness pair naturally with soy-sauce-based Japanese dishes such as yakitori with tare, teriyaki chicken, and simmered root vegetables (nimono).

When to drink it

A fitting choice for a casual dinner, a toast to local history, or a gift with a genuine story behind it — such as for someone interested in the Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group World Heritage site.
