Domaine Echigo Cabernet Sauvignon is a 100% single-varietal red wine from Agricoa Echigo Winery's estate-grown Domaine series, made from Cabernet Sauvignon grown under contract in the Myogasawa vineyard in Minamiuonuma, Niigata Prefecture. Grapes are hand-selected by the cluster and berry to concentrate tannin, then aged 12 months in oak barrels, yielding a dry, medium-bodied wine that balances fruit aroma with oak, power, and elegance. The 2017 vintage earned a Bronze Medal at the 2023 Japan Wine Competition. The winery uses low-pesticide, low-additive viticulture and minimizes sulfite use in the cellar.
A tannin-rich, structured expression of estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon from Niigata's snow country, its 2023 Japan Wine Competition bronze medal a testament to the potential of vinifera reds grown this far north.
