パッリーナ DOC

A hidden gem of coastal Maremma, blending tradition with maritime elegance.

Parrina DOC is a small, distinctive wine appellation located in the Maremma region of southern Tuscany, within the Orbetello commune (province of Grosseto). Established in 1971, it is one of the oldest DOCs in the Maremma area, covering roughly 25-110 hectares of vineyards among about 20 producers. The area benefits from a continental-Mediterranean climate moderated by the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea, with alkaline clay-loam soils on gently rolling hills. Red, white, and rosé wines are produced: reds are based on Sangiovese (min. 70% for Rosso/Rosato), often blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, while whites combine Trebbiano, Ansonica, and Vermentino with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, introduced after a 1986 regulation revision. The wines are known for balance, freshness, and a clear expression of coastal Tuscan terroir.

Best for: Wine enthusiasts seeking unique, lesser-known Tuscan wines with a coastal influence.
