Bianco di Pitigliano DOC
ビアンコ・ディ・ピティリアーノDOC
A historic Tuscan white shaped by volcanic tufa soils and crisp minerality.
Bianco di Pitigliano DOC is a historic white wine appellation in the Maremma area of southern Tuscany, established in 1966 as one of Italy's earliest DOCs. Centered on the towns of Pitigliano and Sorano (with parts of Scansano and Manciano, province of Grosseto), the zone sits on yellow volcanic tufa soils rich in potassium. Wines are built on a minimum of 50% Trebbiano Toscano, typically blended with Greco, Malvasia Bianca Lunga, Verdello, Grechetto, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Bianco, and/or Riesling Italico. The DOC covers four styles: the standard Bianco di Pitigliano (dry, straw-yellow, min. 11% ABV), Superiore (min. 12% ABV), Spumante, and Vin Santo. The wines are prized for their crisp acidity, delicate floral aromas, and pronounced volcanic mineral character.
Best for: Ideal for those who enjoy light, mineral-driven white wines and are curious about one of Italy's oldest DOC appellations.
