Barco Reale di Carmignano DOC
バルコ・レアーレ・ディ・カルミニャーノ
Carmignano's easy-drinking, early-release red sibling.
Barco Reale di Carmignano DOC is a Tuscan red-wine appellation, established in 1994 as the younger, more approachable sibling of the prestigious Carmignano DOCG. The name refers to the Barco Reale Mediceo, a 1,619-hectare royal hunting reserve created by the Medici family in the 17th century. Wines require a minimum of 50% Sangiovese, supplemented by 10-20% Cabernet Sauvignon and/or Cabernet Franc, up to 20% Canaiolo Nero, and small amounts of white grapes. Unlike Carmignano DOCG, Barco Reale carries no mandatory oak aging or delayed release requirement, making it intended for early, everyday drinking while still expressing the same terroir.
Best for: Ideal for casual dinners, everyday drinking, and those seeking an accessible introduction to Tuscan Sangiovese blends without long cellaring.
