About Winzer von Baden eG

Winzer von Baden eG is a major wine cooperative (Winzergenossenschaft) headquartered in Wiesloch, in Germany's Baden region. Tracing its roots to a 1935 merger of local growers' cooperatives (originally Winzerkeller Wiesloch, renamed in 2017), it unites roughly 900 member winegrowers organized through local sub-cooperatives across the Badische Bergstraße and Kraichgau districts, farming around 590-700 hectares of vineyards spread over some 20 villages between Hemsbach and Bruchsal. As a cooperative rather than a single-estate winery, it pools grapes from many small growers and vinifies them centrally, focusing on Burgunder (Pinot) varieties such as Spätburgunder, Grauburgunder and Weißburgunder alongside Riesling and Gewürztraminer. In July 2026 the cooperative filed for insolvency-related restructuring amid industry-wide pressure on German wine producers; management has stated its intention to preserve the brand and continue operations through the process.
