Albariño 2023 is Winery Azuma Sanroku's first Albariño made entirely from grapes grown on its own Yokomori Vineyard in Sakuramoto, Fukushima City. Released in July 2024 alongside the winery's Fumé Blanc as its first all-Fukushima-grown white wines, it was fermented and aged in stainless steel for six months to preserve fresh citrus and stone-fruit aromatics. Only 150 bottles were produced from this limited first vintage, making it one of the rarer Albariño bottlings among Japan's small but growing group of producers working with this grape.

Sommelier's Note

One of the very few Albariño bottlings from Fukushima, and Azuma Sanroku's first vintage grown entirely on its own vines — a wine worth seeking out while the tiny 150-bottle production lasts.

When to drink it

Terroir & Winemaking

100% Albariño grown on the winery's own Yokomori Vineyard (Sakuramoto, Fukushima City); fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks for six months to retain varietal freshness; no oak influence; dry style; 750ml bottling.
