Weingut Wöhrle is a family-run VDP estate in Lahr, in the Breisgau area of Baden at the foot of the Black Forest. Founded when Hans and Monika Wöhrle leased the historic Weingut der Stadt Lahr in 1979 (they acquired it outright in 1997), the estate has been organically certified since 1991 and is now led by their son Markus Wöhrle and his wife Tanja, since 2013. Markus trained under Hans-Günter Schwarz at the renowned Müller-Catoir estate in the Pfalz and studied viticulture in Geisenheim before returning home. Across roughly 15-19 hectares on the warm limestone and loess slopes of the Schutterlindenberg and Kronenbühl, the estate focuses on Burgundy varieties — Spätburgunder, Grauburgunder, Weissburgunder and Auxerrois — alongside Chardonnay, Riesling and Muskateller. The Kronenbühl site is classified VDP.ERSTE LAGE, while the monopole Kirchgasse and the Herrentisch and Gottesacker sites rank as VDP.GROSSE LAGE, placing Wöhrle among Baden's top-tier VDP producers.
