One of the Nahe's leading Pinot (Burgundy) specialists, tasting wine above a Roman-era cellar in its architecture-prize-winning 'Pinoteca'.
About Weingut Poss
Weingut Poss is a family-run estate in Windesheim, in Germany's Nahe wine region, with roots reaching back to the late 19th century, when the family ran an estate known as 'Guldenbachhof' in the village center. Built up over decades by brothers Karl-Hans and Harald Poss, the winery became one of the leading Burgundy (Pinot) specialists in the Nahe: roughly 85% of the roughly ten-hectare vineyard area is planted to Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), with Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and smaller plots of Chardonnay, Riesling, Cabernet Dorsa and Saint Laurent rounding out the range. Since the 2022 vintage the estate has been led by the next generation, Nikolay Poss (Harald's son), a Geisenheim-trained oenologist who took charge of the cellar in 2020 after already overseeing the red wines from 2018. The estate's centerpiece is the 'Pinoteca', an architecture-prize-winning tasting pavilion opened in 2011 (Architekturpreis Wein 2013), built above the remains of a Roman-era cellar uncovered on the site of a former Villa Rustica.
