About Weingut Michel
Weingut Michel is a family estate in Achkarren (Vogtsburg im Kaiserstuhl), Baden, Germany. Founded in 1983 by Josef Michel together with his parents Walter and Margarethe after leaving the local wine cooperative, the winery is still run today by Josef, with his son Robin representing the next generation. On roughly 14 hectares, about 98% of plantings are Pinot varieties — Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and a little Chardonnay — with most vines on the renowned volcanic Achkarrer Schlossberg site. The estate joined VDP.Baden on 1 January 2018 as its 20th member, and is known for careful, low-intervention Burgundy winemaking and wines that often sell out before the next vintage.
