About Weingut Lützkendorf

Weingut Lützkendorf is a family-run estate in Bad Kösen, part of Naumburg, in Germany's northernmost fine-wine region of Saale-Unstrut. The family's winegrowing roots trace back over a century, but the modern estate began in 1991, when Uwe Lützkendorf revived the vineyards after they were returned to the family following German reunification. The estate quickly earned recognition for its quality, joining the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter) already in 1996 — one of only two founding VDP members in the Saale-Unstrut region. Farming roughly 10 hectares on limestone (Muschelkalk), quartzite-rich Buntsandstein and gypsum-keuper soils, including plots within the VDP.Grosse Lage Karsdorfer Hohe Gräte, the estate crafts powerful, mineral-driven, predominantly dry wines from Riesling, Silvaner, Weissburgunder and other regional varieties. Following Uwe Lützkendorf's passing in 2022, the family has continued to run the estate in his spirit.
