About Weingut Kost

Founded in 1833 by Georg Nikolaus Kost, a travelling cooper's journeyman who settled in Horrweiler near Bingen am Rhein, Weingut Kost is a family estate now run by the sixth generation (Alexander Kost), with a seventh already growing into the business. The roughly 10-hectare estate farms parcels around Horrweiler and Zotzenheim on clay-rich soils in a sheltered valley, producing classic Rheinhessen varieties such as Riesling and Silvaner alongside international grapes like Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc, in styles ranging from dry to sweet. The family motto, "von Haus zu Haus – der Kunde ist Freund der Familie" (from house to house, the customer is a friend of the family), reflects their personal, direct-sales approach to winemaking.
