Weingut Herrenberg
ヴァイングート・ヘレンベルク
330-year-old Saxon vineyard on a steep Elbe-valley slope
About Weingut Herrenberg
Weingut Herrenberg is a small family estate in the village of Golk, part of the municipality of Diera-Zehren in Saxony, Germany, at the heart of the Meissen wine district. The single vineyard site, first documented in 1730, sits on a steep, south-facing slope protected by historic terrace walls above the Elbe valley, creating a distinctive microclimate. A wine tavern on the site, Winzerhof Golk, has welcomed visitors since 1935. Uwe and Ramona Riße acquired the vineyard and its buildings in 2011 and have run the estate together ever since, restoring the historic Winzerhof Golk restaurant and guest house while modernizing production; since 2016 grapes have been pressed and vinified on-site in a new cellar. The roughly 3-hectare vineyard is planted mainly to Riesling and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), with Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Traminer, and Scheurebe rounding out the range.
