About Weingut Familie Allendorf
Weingut Familie Allendorf (long known also as Weingut Fritz Allendorf) is a VDP member estate based in Oestrich-Winkel, Rheingau, and the largest family-owned winery in the region, with roots tracing back to 1773 when Philipp Anton Allendorf laid the estate's foundation. Rebuilt from just 1.5 hectares by Fritz Allendorf in 1955, the estate today farms roughly 65-70 hectares across prime Rheingau sites, including Winkeler Hasensprung, Winkeler Jesuitengarten, Rüdesheimer Berg Roseneck and Berg Rottland, and the Pinot Noir icon site Assmannshäuser Höllenberg. A VDP member since 1999, the estate is led today by the fourth generation, cellar master Max Schönleber and his sister Anne Schönleber-Liebler, guided by the family motto "Ohne Mensch kein Wein" (no wine without people) and Max Schönleber's philosophy of "die Natur in die Flasche bringen" (bringing nature into the bottle). The portfolio spans mineral dry Rieslings, elegant Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), and VDP.Sekt sparkling wines, and the estate also runs the historic Brentanohaus restaurant in Winkel, once frequented by Goethe and the Brothers Grimm.
