Organic Rüdesheim Riesling from steep slate vineyards

About Weingut Carl Ehrhard

Weingut Carl Ehrhard is a family-owned estate in Rüdesheim am Rhein, in the heart of the Rheingau, with roots dating back to 1815. Since 1998, Carl and his wife Petra have run the estate as the fifth generation of the Ehrhard family, farming roughly 9 hectares of steep, slate- and quartzite-rich vineyards on six top sites around Rüdesheim — including Berg Rottland, Berg Roseneck, Bischofsberg, Kirchenpfad, Klosterberg and Klosterlay — as a member of VDP.Rheingau. Grapes are grown organically and biodynamically without fertilizers or herbicides; fermentation happens spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, wines mature slowly in large neutral oak barrels, and many are bottled unfiltered and unfined. The estate earned a 4.5-star rating in the VINUM Weinguide 2026, recognized among the Rheingau's best for its dry Rieslings.
