About Weingut Blankenhorn

Weingut Blankenhorn is a historic winery in Schliengen, in the Markgräflerland district of Baden, founded in 1847. A VDP member since 1987, the estate was run by the Blankenhorn family for five generations before Martin and Yvonne Männer took over in 2014. Around 20-24 hectares are farmed, centered on Gutedel (Chasselas), the signature grape of Markgräflerland, alongside Pinot varieties (Spätburgunder, Weissburgunder, Grauburgunder) and Chardonnay. Flagship sites include the Sonnenstück (VDP.Grosse Lage) and the Erste Lage vineyards Roggenbach, Ölberg and Kirchberg, on loess, clay, limestone and marl soils. Wines age in large wooden casks in a 17th-century vaulted cellar; the estate is Fair'n Green certified and transitioning to organic viticulture.
