"Bocchi Awa" is the debut sparkling wine from Vin de la bocchi farm & winery, a family-run winery on the hillside outskirts of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. Made entirely from grapes grown on the winery's own vineyard in the Tawara district — former rice-paddy land underlain by volcanic Tomuro-stone gravel — the 2025-harvest blend centers on Chardonnay (31%) and Pinot Noir (21%), rounded out with Sauvignon Blanc (16%), Petit Manseng (8%), Pinot Blanc (6%) and other varieties. Made using the traditional bottle-fermentation method, it shows fresh acidity, vivid fruit, and lively, mineral-driven bubbles. Only 1,096 bottles were produced. To celebrate the winery's first-ever sparkling release, the label features a stork — a bird believed to bring happiness to families.

Sommelier's Note

Vin de la bocchi's first traditional-method sparkling wine delivers fine, persistent bubbles and the mineral signature of Kanazawa's Tawara terroir in one confident debut — a bottle every fan of the winery should try at least once.

New to wine?

The winery's first-ever sparkling wine — bright acidity and gentle, fine bubbles make it an easy, welcoming entry point into traditional-method sparkling wine.

Food Pairings

The winery recommends pairing Bocchi Awa with pickled Kaga vegetables, cheese-grilled purple eggplant (heta-murasaki nasu), and snow crab shabu-shabu. Its fine, traditional-method bubbles and mineral edge complement the sweetness of root vegetables and the delicate richness of crab — equally at home as an aperitif or through a full meal.

When to drink it

A natural choice for celebratory toasts, family gatherings, or as an everyday sparkling paired with Japanese appetizers.
