Mathieu Deiss's own dreamer's vineyard — biodynamic, amphora-aged Alsace field blends
Vignoble du Rêveur ("The Dreamer's Vineyard") is the personal domaine of Mathieu Deiss — eldest son of Jean-Michel Deiss of Domaine Marcel Deiss — and his partner Emmanuelle Milan, based in Bennwihr, Alsace. Founded on vines Mathieu inherited from his maternal uncle, the estate converted to biodynamics from the outset and earned Demeter certification in 2013, releasing its first vintage under the Vignoble du Rêveur label in 2015. While continuing to work alongside his father at Domaine Marcel Deiss, Mathieu uses this smaller property (roughly 7-8 hectares spread across Bennwihr, Bergheim and Westhalten) as a space for experimentation: whole-cluster and extended skin-contact maceration, ambient-yeast fermentation, ageing in amphora and old foudres, and bottling largely without added sulphur or filtration. Rather than spotlighting any single variety, the wines foreground texture, depth and minerality, and are conceived to be enjoyed younger and more playfully than his father's long-ageing terroir wines.
