Founded in 2002 in Civitella Paganico, in the province of Grosseto, Tenuta Sassoregale sits in the Alta Maremma — the wild, coastal 'Tuscan Wild West' just a few kilometers from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The estate covers 38 hectares, with 30 hectares under vine, planted primarily to Sangiovese alongside Merlot, Syrah, and Vermentino. Sassoregale is part of Herita Marzotto Wine Estates (formerly Santa Margherita Gruppo Vinicolo), the wine group founded in 1935 by Count Gaetano Marzotto and still owned by the Marzotto family. The estate transitioned to fully organic farming, achieving certification starting with the 2017 vintage, taking advantage of a Mediterranean climate moderated by cooling sea breezes. Its wines, released under the Maremma Toscana DOC appellation, are known for a bold, untamed character that reflects the rugged beauty of the Maremma landscape.
