A dry red blend created under the concept of "a refreshing wine that pairs with Japanese cuisine," combining Aomori-grown Steuben with imported Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. Produced at Sunmamoru Winery's second winery, built in 2016 partway up Mt. Ajara (elevation 709m) in Owani, Aomori. Garnet in color, with black cherry aromas layered with cranberry and spice nuances, medium-bodied. Steuben contributes bright, structured acidity while the Cabernet Sauvignon adds firm, ripe fruit weight. Part of the winery's own "Art Label" series, featuring artwork by printmaker Mitsushige Nishiwaki, whose work has been shown in galleries in the UK, France, and the US.
A rare case where a Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon actually improves under a Japanese hybrid's acidity — Steuben keeps this blend lively rather than heavy.

An easy, food-friendly red blending a Japanese hybrid grape with a familiar international variety.
Food Pairings
Pairs well with Japanese dishes such as tare-glazed yakitori, kakuni (braised pork belly), and okonomiyaki, thanks to Steuben's acidity cutting through richness.
When to drink it
Everyday dinners with Japanese home cooking or izakaya-style dishes.

- What grapes are used in Rouge Art?
- It is a blend of Steuben grapes grown in Aomori and imported Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon, not a 100% domestic wine.
- Is Rouge Art the same wine as Art Selection?
- No. Art Selection is Sunmamoru Winery's estate-grown blend of Pinot Noir, Merlot, and the proprietary Kitano Yume variety. Rouge Art is a separate, more casual series blending domestic Steuben with imported Cabernet Sauvignon.
- What food pairs well with Rouge Art?
- Its bright acidity and medium body pair especially well with tare-glazed yakitori, kakuni, and okonomiyaki.
- Is Rouge Art a vintage wine?
- No, it is released as non-vintage (NV), so the blend is consistent across bottlings.
