A dry red wine made from 100% Steuben grapes grown in Tsugaru, Aomori Prefecture — Japan's snowy northern wine region. Ruby to raspberry-red in hue, with aromas of dried berries and black tea typical of this cool-climate American hybrid variety. The palate is smooth and light-bodied, with refreshing acidity, gentle tannin, and a savory, umami-like finish reminiscent of Japanese dashi broth, making it an easy, everyday companion to the dinner table.

Sommelier's Note

Steuben is often made into sweeter styles, but Sunmamoru's Red Steuben proves the variety can shine bone-dry — its dashi-like umami finish is a genuinely distinctive, food-pairing-friendly trait rarely found in red wine.

New to wine?

A gentle, light-bodied dry red — a friendly first step into Japanese-grown American hybrid grape wines.

Food Pairings

Its umami-forward finish makes it a natural match for dashi-based Japanese dishes — try it with simmered dishes (nimono), sashimi, or sushi. Also pairs well with grilled chicken and lightly seasoned pork dishes.

When to drink it

Everyday dinners, especially alongside Japanese home cooking and dashi-based dishes.
