Schiavenza
スキアヴェンツァ
Traditionalist Barolo producer capturing the rugged soul of Serralunga.
Founded in 1956 by brothers Ugo and Vittorio Alessandria in Serralunga d'Alba, Schiavenza takes its curious name from the sharecroppers ("schiavenza") who once worked land owned by the Opera Pia Barolo charity. Today the traditionalist estate is run by Luciano Pira, his wife Maura Alessandria, and Valter Anselma, who continue an uncompromising approach to Barolo: long macerations and aging exclusively in large Slavonian oak botti. Vineyards spanning prestigious Serralunga crus — including Prapò, Cerretta, and Broglio — yield wines of powerful structure, firm tannins, and exceptional longevity that embody the rugged terroir of the commune.
