Sasso di Sole is a family-run winery owned by the Terzuoli family, located in the north-eastern part of Montalcino within the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Val d'Orcia park. The family's agricultural roots in the area date back to the 17th century, with the modern winery founded in the 1970s by Bruno and Graziella Terzuoli and later developed by their son Roberto, a trained oenologist who honed his craft at Biondi-Santi, the historic pioneer of Brunello di Montalcino. The estate farms 10 hectares organically, planted entirely to native Sangiovese Grosso across parcels including Piaggione, Bosco, Borghetto, Frutti, Cantina, Pentagono, and Casa, at 280-320 meters elevation with south/south-west exposure. Grapes are hand-selected and wines are aged in large Slavonian oak barrels, producing Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Orcia Sangiovese DOC, and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG (including the Sasso di Luna and Riserva bottlings) noted for elegance, structure, and fidelity to Montalcino terroir.
