Liel Akeno Sauvignon Blanc & Scheurebe is Sadoya Winery's single-vineyard white from its Akeno Farm in Hokuto City, Yamanashi — a plot at roughly 700m elevation with abundant sunshine and a cool climate, acquired in 2024 as the source for Sadoya's terroir-focused 'Liel' regional series. The wine blends Sauvignon Blanc with the aromatic German variety Scheurebe, both grown on the same farm; the Scheurebe lifts the aromatics and adds fuller fruit and texture around Sauvignon Blanc's core, giving a crisp, dry white with bright citrus acidity fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness.

Sommelier's Note

Scheurebe is the secret weapon here — it lends Sauvignon Blanc's citrus backbone a floral, almost spicy lift you rarely find in a Japanese Sauvignon Blanc blend, making this one of Sadoya's most distinctive whites.

New to wine?

A refreshing, easy-to-love dry white — think grapefruit and fresh herbs with a clean, crisp finish, no need for prior Sauvignon Blanc experience.

Food Pairings

The bright acidity and citrus-driven aromatics make it a natural match for white fish carpaccio, salted grilled chicken (shio-yaki), and other light, salt-forward dishes; it also works well with fresh green salads and goat cheese.

When to drink it
