About Ruppert-Leroy
Ruppert-Leroy is a small grower estate in Essoyes, in the Côte des Bar (Aube), farming about 4 hectares. The estate is run by Bénédicte Ruppert and Emmanuel Leroy. Organic conversion began in 2010, followed by AB certification in 2013 and Demeter certification for its grapes in 2014. Each plot is vinified separately and the cuvées are named after their soils: Les Cognaux (grey clay), Martin Fontaine (very calcareous) and Fosse-Grely (red clay). The wines are made without added sulphites, with spontaneous fermentation, and are aged in barrels or demi-muids.
