About Philipp Kuhn

Based in Laumersheim, Pfalz, Weingut Philipp Kuhn traces its winegrowing roots in the village to the 17th century. Philipp Kuhn took over responsibility for the vineyards and cellar in 1992 at age 20, and was among the first graduates of the VDP talent programme (launched 2003) to be admitted as a full VDP member, in 2008. The estate's leading grape varieties are Riesling and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), with Chardonnay, Weißburgunder and other Burgundian varieties also grown on the limestone and calcareous-marl soils of Laumersheim, Großkarlbach and Dirmstein. Vineyards include the VDP.Grosse Lage sites Kirschgarten and Steinbuckel in Laumersheim and Burgweg in Großkarlbach. The estate has won the German Red Wine Prize ten times and the German Riesling Prize three times, and is EU organic and Fair'n Green certified.
