Founded in 1974 when Piero Palladino purchased a historic winery building in the heart of Serralunga d'Alba and entrusted its management to his cousin Maurilio, Palladino has grown into one of the appellation's respected family estates. The winery farms vineyard parcels scattered across some of Serralunga's finest crus — San Bernardo, Ornato, Parafada, Gabutti and Serra — where limestone-clay soils yield Barolo of great structure and ageing potential. Palladino's house style favors open, approachable and elegant wines: fruit-forward yet built on fine, well-integrated tannins. Flagship bottlings include the Barolo Serralunga, Vigna Broglio, Ornato and the Riserva San Bernardo, the last produced only in the best vintages after extended ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels. Today the estate is run by Maurilio and his wife Domenica, with the next generation — Veronica, Alessandro and Margherita — increasingly involved.
