Ormanni is a historic estate located in the heart of Chianti Classico, on the route between Poggibonsi and Castellina in Chianti, near the church of San Pietro a Cedda. Records trace the property back to the 13th century, when it belonged to the Florentine Ormanni family (mentioned in Dante's Divine Comedy); it later passed through the Scarlatti and Medici families before the Brini family acquired it in 1818. For the past 200 years the estate has been run by the Brini Batacchi family, today led by Paolo Brini Batacchi and his daughter Paola. The property covers 242 hectares, with 68 hectares of vineyards planted principally to Sangiovese, producing terroir-driven Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, Chianti Riserva, and other Tuscan wines.
