I'm Chardonnay Barrel Aged is a single-varietal, dry white wine from Okutone Winery's own vineyard on the volcanic slopes of Mt. Akagi in Showa Village, Gunma. The grapes are fermented in French oak barrels and aged for roughly 11 months in French oak before bottling. The result is a smooth, well-structured wine with aromas of toast, vanilla, citrus and acacia blossom, balanced by a crisp, refreshing acidity reminiscent of the cool breeze across the Akagi highlands.
Estate-grown, barrel-fermented and barrel-aged entirely on site — this is Okutone Winery's most ambitious expression of Chardonnay from the Akagi highlands, and a benchmark for Gunma's cool-climate potential.
