Poderi e Cantine Oddero (commonly known simply as Oddero) is a historic estate based in La Morra, in the heart of Barolo, with roots tracing back to the 18th century and a formal winery founded in 1878. The estate represents the traditionalist school of Barolo production: grapes are fermented in stainless steel and then aged for extended periods in large Slavonian oak casks (botti), never in small French barriques. This meticulous, minimal-intervention approach preserves the purity and structure of Nebbiolo, producing wines celebrated for their elegance, complexity, and remarkable aging potential. Oddero owns parcels in some of the most prestigious crus of Barolo and Barbaresco, including Vigna Rionda, Brunate, Villero, and Rocche di Castiglione. Note: Oddero (Poderi e Cantine Oddero) is a distinct legal entity from "Luigi Oddero," another La Morra-based winery descended from the same historical Oddero family lineage but run independently since a family division; the two producers should not be confused.
