Noranorah Farm & Winery is a boutique family winery in Tomi City, Nagano Prefecture, in the heart of the Chikuma River Wine Valley. Founded by Yoshiaki Hasumi — a former Major League Baseball team staffer who fell in love with wine over dinner with teammates of Hideo Nomo — the estate began in 2005 when Hasumi relocated to Tomi and personally reclaimed abandoned farmland, planting just 1,000 vines. It released its first vintage in 2009 and obtained its brewing license around 2010-2011, earning a reputation as one of Japan's smallest wineries. Later incorporated as Hasumi Farm Co., Ltd. and now operating as Noranorah Farm & Winery, the estate grows Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Koshu, and Niagara, crafting low-intervention, largely hand-picked wines alongside cider. The business has since expanded into agritourism, with a renovated 160-year-old farmhouse, pet-friendly log cabins, and winery tours.
