Miyamoto Vineyard is a small, family-run winery on the steep, south- and southwest-facing slopes of Mount Tappu in Mikasa, Hokkaido, within the Sorachi wine region. Founder Ryohei Miyamoto, a former chef and pâtissier, began clearing land on the mountainside in 2011-2012 after training in winemaking in New Zealand, France, and Japan. The vineyard has grown to roughly 3.5 hectares planted to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Auxerrois, Syrah, and Gewürztraminer, using weaker rootstocks to slow vine development and prioritizing quality over yield. No herbicides or chemical fertilizers are used. Wines are released under the brand name 'Vignes Chantantes' ('singing vines'), including cuvées such as Cuvée Printanière, Volonté, Prisme, Entre Chien et Loup, Abondance, and Astronome. The wines are made with minimal intervention and native wild yeasts, and are internationally recognized — reviewed by critics such as Jancis Robinson and James Suckling — while remaining extremely limited in production and highly allocated within Japan.
