About Marras
Marras is a boutique Swartland label led by winemaker Martin 'Marras' Lamprecht, based in Riebeek West in the Riebeek Valley. A graduate of Elsenburg's B.Agric Cellar Technology programme (2010), Lamprecht trained under David Nieuwoudt at Cederberg and worked a vintage in France's Rhône Valley before returning to build Marras. The wines are hands-off and heartfelt: naturally fermented with minimal intervention, sourcing lean, mineral-driven Chenin Blanc from Paardeberg's granite soils and silky Shiraz-Cinsault blends and Grenache from the schist of Kasteelberg and the elevated terroir of Piekenierskloof. The tasting room and on-site restaurant in Riebeek West overlook the Paardeberg and serve farm-to-table dishes built around a shared braai culture.
