A founding pioneer of the Swartland natural wine movement, farming old bush vines on Paardeberg granite.
About Lammershoek
Lammershoek is a historic estate in the Aprilskloof Valley on the slopes of the Paardeberg in Swartland, South Africa, first granted as a farm in 1714 with vines recorded from 1719. An early gathering point for the 'Swartland Revolution', it is a founding-era member of the Swartland Independent Producers (SIP), the charter group committed to dry-land bush vines, old varieties and minimal-intervention winemaking. Roughly 70-80 hectares of decomposed-granite soil carry predominantly dry-farmed bush vines of old-vine Chenin Blanc, Pinotage and Cinsault alongside Rhône varieties such as Syrah and Mourvèdre, made across the Innocent, Reserve, Libero and Mysteries ranges under winemaker Schalk Opperman. Beyond wine, the farm also tends a small olive grove of around 3 hectares, producing cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, reflecting the diversified, land-based farming culture of the Swartland.
Who Is This For?
