Kusunoki Winery's standard barrel-aged Chardonnay from Suzaka, Nagano, is a fresher, everyday-price sibling to the winery's premium 'Special Cuvée' bottling. Aromas of juicy apple and lime mingle with sweet pear and elegant oak, framed by mineral-tinged acidity. The 2021 vintage used a reduced proportion of new oak compared with earlier releases, giving the wine noticeably more freshness while retaining a gentle vanilla-tinged barrel character. Best enjoyed after a short time open, as the aromas and palate become rounder and more expressive with air.

Sommelier's Note

The little sibling of Kusunoki's acclaimed Special Cuvée — less oak, more freshness, and a price that makes it an easy everyday choice rather than a special-occasion splurge.
