Momo is Kamiuta Vineyard's signature red field blend, co-fermented from Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris grown on the reclaimed 'grape graveyard' vineyard in Utashinai, Hokkaido. Made with spontaneous fermentation and extended skin maceration, it is a structured, food-friendly natural red. The most recent release (2023) is aged for eight months in used oak barrels, while earlier vintages (2021, 2022) were aged in stainless steel tanks.

Sommelier's Note

One of Hokkaido's most distinctive natural reds — a four-variety field blend from a vineyard reborn from an abandoned 'grape graveyard,' worth revisiting each vintage as maceration length and aging vessel shift from year to year.

New to wine?

A gentle, juicy natural red with no unusual funk — easy to enjoy chilled or at room temperature.

Food Pairings

The gentle tannin and moderate body pair well with grilled or braised beef and veal, mushroom dishes, and other umami-rich fare; also enjoyable with charcuterie.

When to drink it

Casual dinners, natural wine tastings, pairing with Japanese home cooking
