Wanda White is Kamegamori Brewery's playful skin-contact orange wine, blending the striking red-skinned Japanese table grape Beniizu (also seen labeled 'Ao-Beniizu') with the aromatic American hybrid Niagara, both estate-grown in the Osawa valley basin of Osako, Hanamaki, Iwate. Beniizu's naturally high sugar and gentle acidity — picked slightly underripe here for balance — is softened by Niagara's honeyed sweetness, producing a still (non-sparkling), deep orange-hued white with sulfites added at bottling. Sold in a generous 1.8-liter isshobin bottle, it is a casual, glass-in-hand wine meant to be poured freely and enjoyed at any temperature.
A rare Japanese red-grape-meets-Niagara blend that proves orange wine doesn't have to be intense — Wanda White is Kamegamori's most approachable, pour-freely bottle.
