Fifth-generation organic family estate in Voor Paardeberg since 1879

About Joostenberg Wine Estate

Joostenberg Wine Estate is a fifth-generation family farm in the Voor Paardeberg ward, in the southwestern corner of the Paarl appellation near Muldersvlei. The Myburgh family has farmed the land since 1879; after decades of selling grapes to a local cooperative, brothers Tyrrel and Philip Myburgh revived estate winemaking in 1999. The 30-hectare vineyard, planted on a mix of granite and Malmesbury shale over clay, achieved full organic certification in 2012. Chenin Blanc and Syrah are the estate's signature varieties, alongside Roussanne, Verdelho, Alvarinho, Petit Manseng, Mourvedre, Grenache Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pontac, all made with minimal cellar intervention. The farm is also home to The Kraal Restaurant, serving a weekly changing seasonal set lunch alongside the estate's wines.
