About Jacaranda Wine Estate
Nestled at the foot of the Groenberg Mountain in Wellington, Western Cape, Jacaranda Wine Estate is officially the smallest registered wine estate in South Africa, with just 3.2 hectares under vine. The Cape Dutch-style manor house dates back nearly a century, with the first Chenin Blanc vines planted in the 1970s. Owners René Reiser and Birgit Schmiederer-Reiser, who returned to winemaking after two decades working internationally in Asia and Europe, replanted part of the estate to Chenin Blanc, Shiraz and Viognier in 2011 and restored the historic cellar and cottages. All wines are made in an 'alternative style' using natural fermentation with minimal sulphite additions, yielding around 20,000-25,000 bottles a year across the Harvest, Artisanal and Reserve ranges.
Who Is This For?
