Hojo Winery's white bottling in the 'Special Selection' line, the sibling to the winery's flagship Special Selection Red. A non-vintage blend of barrel-aged Koshu and sur-lie-method Chardonnay, both grown on the free-draining sand-dune soils of Hojo, Tottori Prefecture. Blended with washoku (Japanese cuisine) pairing in mind, it draws out the distinct character of each variety — the quiet minerality and gentle bitterness of Koshu alongside the richer, yeasty depth of the sur-lie Chardonnay — resulting in a dry, layered white the winery calls a luxurious special blend.

Sommelier's Note

Hojo Winery's most ambitious white — the barrel-aged Koshu and sur-lie Chardonnay blend shows real texture and layered depth rarely found in everyday Japanese whites.

A food-friendly, dry white blend that pairs easily with everyday meals — an approachable way to try Hojo Winery's premium 'Special Selection' line without committing to a bold red.

Food Pairings

The winery specifically recommends this wine with meat dishes and fish dishes. The sur-lie Chardonnay's richness works well with grilled white fish, cream-based sauces, and roast chicken, while the Koshu component's delicate minerality complements sashimi, tempura, and other Japanese fare.

When to drink it
