Shinshu Koshu (literally 'new sake/wine Koshu') is Haramo Wine's nouveau-style bottling of the indigenous Koshu grape, released each autumn shortly after harvest to celebrate the new vintage — for example, the 2024 vintage went on sale from November 3, 2024. Made from 100% Katsunuma-grown Koshu, it is bottled young to capture a bright, aromatic, fruit-forward character with a crisp, clean finish. As a seasonal nouveau, it is a distinct product category from Haramo's other Koshu bottlings: unlike the off-dry Amakuchi Koshu, Shinshu Koshu is not deliberately sweetened, and unlike the standard, year-round Haramo Blanc, it is released only once a year as a fresh, just-pressed wine tied to that year's harvest, so its exact character (and any technical specs such as ABV) can vary slightly vintage to vintage.
Shinshu Koshu is Haramo's yearly reminder that Koshu can be youthful and playful, not just delicate and refined — a nouveau worth seeking out each November for a snapshot of that year's harvest.
New to wine?
A great once-a-year introduction to Koshu at its freshest — light, aromatic, and easy to enjoy without any need to think about vintages or aging.
Food Pairings
Its bright acidity and light body make it a natural match for delicate Japanese dishes — sashimi, tempura, grilled white fish, and edamame — as well as fresh salads and light appetizers as an aperitif.
When to drink it
Perfect for autumn harvest celebrations and casual gatherings with friends, enjoyed soon after its yearly release for maximum freshness.
Terroir & Winemaking
Made from 100% Koshu grapes grown in Katsunuma, Yamanashi, harvested and bottled the same year as a nouveau-style release. The 2024 vintage (750ml) went on sale from November 3, 2024. As a nouveau, it is a new bottling each year, and Haramo's official site does not publish ABV or price for this product, so these figures are omitted pending vintage-specific confirmation.

- What kind of wine is Shinshu Koshu?
- It is Haramo Wine's nouveau (new-wine) style Koshu, made from 100% Katsunuma-grown Koshu grapes and bottled shortly after that year's harvest to showcase a fresh, fruity, aromatic character with a crisp finish.
- How is it different from Haramo's Amakuchi Koshu or Haramo Blanc?
- Amakuchi Koshu is deliberately off-dry (gently sweet), and Haramo Blanc is a standard, year-round dry Koshu. Shinshu Koshu is neither sweetened nor a permanent fixture — it is a seasonal nouveau released once a year, prized for its youthful freshness rather than sweetness or consistency across vintages.
- When is Shinshu Koshu released each year?
- It is released as a new vintage every autumn shortly after harvest; the 2024 vintage went on sale from November 3, 2024. Because it is a nouveau, a new bottling appears each year and the wine is best enjoyed soon after that year's release.
- What food does it pair well with?
- Its crisp acidity and light body pair beautifully with Japanese cuisine such as sashimi, tempura, and grilled white fish, and it also works well as a light aperitif.
