Niagara BRUT is Hakkenzan Winery's long-selling sparkling wine, made 100% from Niagara grapes grown in Yoichi, Hokkaido — the very same fruit and origin behind the winery's still white, Niagara DRY. Where Niagara DRY is a light, gently acidic still white, Niagara BRUT takes that fruit into sparkling form: the grape's signature 'foxy,' fresh-grape aroma leaps from the glass, while the palate finishes crisp and fully dry (brut), with 12% ABV against Niagara DRY's 11%. The contrast between the sweet-smelling nose and the bone-dry, sparkling palate is the wine's defining trick, and it has been part of the winery's lineup since its founding.

Sommelier's Note

The aromatic-nose, bone-dry-palate contrast is Niagara BRUT's calling card — if you've tried Niagara DRY, this sparkling sibling shows how differently the same grape and terroir can express themselves.

New to wine?

A fun contrast wine for beginners: the nose smells almost sweet like fresh grapes, but the palate is crisp and fully dry — a great conversation starter and an easy-drinking sparkling.

Food Pairings

Its crisp acidity and tannin-free structure make it a natural match for delicate Japanese seafood — sashimi, sushi, and salt-grilled white fish. It also pairs unexpectedly well with pan-fried gyoza, where the wine's acidity cuts through the richness of the pork and oil.

When to drink it

Great for celebratory toasts, casual seafood dinners, or as a refreshing aperitif.

Terroir & Winemaking
