About Gut Pesterwitz
Gut Pesterwitz is a family-run wine and fruit estate in Freital-Pesterwitz, on a ridge between the Elbe valley and the Ore Mountains just outside Dresden. Wine cultivation on this site is documented as early as 1552, and after the vineyard was replanted in 1986, the Folde family — who had leased the former state-owned estate from Saxony in 1994 — took over its management in 1998. Today around 8.4 hectares of vines on the Pesterwitzer Jochhöhschlösschen site, planted on deep loess-loam soil over granite bedrock, yield roughly 20,000 bottles a year from varieties including Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Scheurebe, Riesling, the regional specialty Goldriesling, Weißburgunder, Solaris, Dornfelder and Regent. The estate also farms about 50 hectares of orchards, and its wines have repeatedly won gold and honor prizes at the Saxon state wine competition, including "Best Wine of Saxony" for its 2020 Solaris Auslese. Visitors can taste and buy directly at the farm shop or seasonal Besenwirtschaft wine tavern, with views over the Weißeritz valley and the Dresden skyline.
