About Gunderloch
Gunderloch is a founding member of the VDP, based in Nackenheim on Rheinhessen's celebrated Roter Hang ("Red Slope") — the steep, iron-rich red-slate escarpment running between Nackenheim and Nierstein. Founded in 1890 by Mainz banker Carl Gunderloch, the estate has been farmed by the same family for six generations and is now led by Johannes Hasselbach. Gunderloch owns roughly 65% of the grand cru Nackenheimer Rothenberg alongside the Nackenheim Fenchelberg and holdings in Niersteiner Pettenthal and Niersteiner Hipping, all VDP Grosse Lage sites on the Roter Hang. Riesling accounts for about 80-85% of the roughly 30-hectare estate, yielding dry Grosses Gewächs as well as noble-sweet Prädikat wines of pronounced minerality and precision.
Who Is This For?
For Riesling lovers who want precise, mineral-driven wines from a single iconic slope — from bone-dry Grosses Gewächs to noble-sweet Prädikat styles.
