Griesel & Compagnie
グリーゼル・ウント・コンパニー
Bensheim's Sekt specialist redefining German sparkling wine
About Griesel & Compagnie
Griesel & Compagnie is a specialist Sekt house in Bensheim, in Germany's tiny Hessische Bergstrasse region. Founded in 2013 when Jürgen Streit and Petra Greissl-Streit took over a former Hessian state winery, the estate is run by cellar master Niko Brandner, a former banker who trained with sparkling wine pioneer Volker Raumland. Griesel farms roughly 15 hectares across single-vineyard sites such as Höllberg, Fürstenlager and Hahnberg, growing Chardonnay, Spätburgunder, Weissburgunder, Riesling and Schwarzriesling for its base wines. Every cuvée undergoes traditional bottle fermentation (méthode traditionnelle) with extended lees ageing and is finished Brut, Extra Brut or completely undosed Brut Nature. The house has repeatedly been named Germany's Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year and consistently ranks among the country's top-rated Sekt estates.
