Okie-dokie is Grape Ship's playful, easy-drinking white blend of organically grown Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc from the Funao district of Kurashiki, Okayama. First made in 2021 — the very first wine fermented at Grape Ship's own winery after it opened that year — the line was revived in 2024 with grapes harvested in mid-August after an early, hot summer that concentrated the fruit. The two varieties are pressed together, barrel-fermented and aged roughly 8 months to a year in oak, then bottled unfined, unfiltered and with no added sulfites. The name is a casual, relaxed way of saying "OK": compared to Grape Ship's related cuvée Ripe (made from the same grapes and method but at a different winery on commission), Okie-dokie is meant to taste lighter and be enjoyed without ceremony. The 2024 vintage shows fresh pear, quince and pineapple with a honeyed apple note, crisp acidity and a touch of citrus bitterness; the original 2021 vintage (a three-way blend also including Marsanne) showed lemon-yellow color, green apple and mint aromatics with vanilla, butter and toast notes from the barrel.
Grape Ship's most unpretentious white — a barrel-aged Sauvignon Blanc / Chenin Blanc blend that trades the seriousness of Sou for pure, casual drinkability.
New to wine?
A relaxed, fruit-forward natural white named for its own laid-back vibe — an easy first step into Japanese natural wine.
Food Pairings
The crisp acidity and citrus bitterness make Okie-dokie a natural match for vegetable tempura, grilled white fish with sudachi citrus, and light sashimi. Its barrel-derived roundness also stands up to soft cheeses and herb-dressed salads.
When to drink it
Casual weekend lunches, picnics, and relaxed get-togethers with friends — a wine meant to be drunk without ceremony.
Terroir & Winemaking
Organically grown Sauvignon Blanc (60%) and Chenin Blanc (40%) hand-harvested in mid-August (2024 vintage) from the Funao district of Kurashiki, Okayama. The two varieties are pressed together and barrel-fermented, then aged in oak for about a year before bottling. Unfined, unfiltered, with no added sulfites (SO2). The debut 2021 vintage instead blended Marsanne (47%), Sauvignon Blanc (40%) and Chenin Blanc (13%), each chilled a day after harvest before pressing, barrel-fermented and aged 8 months in oak.
