Modern La Morra Barolo from the historic Giachini vineyard

Founded by Giovanni Corino in the Annunziata hamlet of La Morra, this estate bottled its first Barolo in the mid-1980s. Around 2005 the family business was divided between brothers Giuliano and Renato Corino; Giuliano kept the historic "Giovanni Corino" name along with the Arborina and Giachini vineyards, while Renato founded his own independent estate, Azienda Agricola Renato Corino. Today Giuliano runs the roughly 9-hectare property with his wife Stefania and children Veronica and Andrea, farming without pesticides, hand-harvesting, and aging Barolo in small French oak barriques — a modern style built since 1987 that preserves La Morra's aromatic elegance while adding structure and aging potential.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Giovanni Corino the same winery as Renato Corino?
No — they are related but separate estates. Brothers Giuliano and Renato Corino split their father Giovanni Corino's estate around 2005; Giuliano kept the "Giovanni Corino" name and the Arborina and Giachini vineyards, while Renato founded his own independent winery, Azienda Agricola Renato Corino.
Where is the estate located and how large are its vineyard holdings?
The estate is based in the Annunziata hamlet of La Morra, Piedmont, farming about 9 hectares, primarily in the Arborina and Giachini crus, producing roughly 50,000 bottles a year.
What winemaking style defines Giovanni Corino's Barolo?
Since 1987 the estate has followed a modern approach: strict yield reduction through double summer pruning, hand harvesting, short controlled-temperature fermentations, and aging in small French oak barriques for silky tannins and aromatic purity.
What food pairs well with these wines?
Their structured, tannic Barolos pair beautifully with red meat, lamb, wild boar ragu, and mushroom-based pasta dishes.
Which are the flagship wines?
Barolo Giachini (the flagship, from the vineyard directly bordering the estate), Barolo Arborina (elegance and power), and Barolo Vecchie Vigne (from 30-50 year old vines, released a year later than the others).
