Gigi Bianco is a historic, family-run winery located in the heart of the Barbaresco village, Piedmont, in the shadow of the medieval tower. Founded in 1870 and now in its fifth generation under winemaker Susanna Bianco and her husband Salvatore, the estate farms a small holding across the prestigious Ovello and Pora crus. Winemaking follows a natural, low-intervention philosophy summed up in three principles: posizione (location), pulizia (cleanliness), and pazienza (patience) — indigenous yeasts, no additives, and minimal marketing, with most sales still happening at the cellar door. The estate produces Barbaresco DOCG (Ovello, Pora), Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba, and Grignolino. Though the Bianco family has farmed Nebbiolo in Barbaresco since the 19th century, Gigi Bianco has operated independently from the nearby Cascina Morassino (run by Roberto Bianco) since at least the 1980s, each with distinct vineyards, cellars, and management.
