Fattoria di Bacchereto is a historic Tuscan estate on the Montalbano hills near Carmignano, whose origins trace back to a 15th-century Medici hunting lodge. Owned by the Bencini Tesi family since 1925, the estate has been guided by Rossella Bencini Tesi since the 1990s, who introduced fully biodynamic farming in 2002 across the vineyards, olive groves, and orchards that make up its roughly 180 hectares. Vinification follows a minimal-intervention philosophy: spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, no chemical additives, and bottling largely without filtration. The estate is one of only 14 producers of Carmignano DOCG, Italy's smallest and one of its oldest appellations, first codified in 1716 under Cosimo III de' Medici. Alongside its flagship Carmignano DOCG "Terre a Mano" (Sangiovese, Canaiolo Nero, Cabernet Sauvignon), the estate produces the skin-contact white "Sassocarlo" (Trebbiano and Malvasia) and a traditional Vin Santo di Carmignano DOC aged for a decade in small barrels.
